Default Spark Plugs - when to change?

Can anyone advise on a couple of questions ?

    1) When is the recommended mileage for changing spark plugs on the petrol Vectra's? (Mine is a 2.2 Direct)

    2) What are the best options? NGK,Bosch ? Iridium,standard?

    Holden's owner's manual recommends changing at 60,000 km/4 years for both Z22SE (3.2l V6) and Z32SE (2.2l 4) petrol engines

That's what my manual says, but 80k for a set of plugs?? Is this realistic?.My car is almost 3 years old and at 35k.Any benefits of changing them now? Standard or aftermarket?

You're probably right mate. I skipped through the manual after my 40k service to see what was/wasn't done and I was sure I came across something about 80k.I am only posting now as I keep forgeting to ask the question. If you are correct, does this mean "maintenance free" i.e. only investigate when something goes wrong oor is there a check/interval for this?

Yep that's it mate, its somet looked at during future services i believe.
If any fault does develop you'd now about it,such as unreliable starting/ power output etc,and a code read would help in spotting it.
Anyone with greater knowledge correct me if i'm wrong.....

Every petrol engine has sparkplugs guys, the coil pack is used instead of HT leads, you have a coil per cylinder rather than one coil doing the whole job

Mine is 3.5 years old with 50k miles on it on the same plugs. It runs fine, my only concern would be getting the things out after being in so long
