    Default Signum 2.0t performance question

    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice. Had remap done a couple of years ago by Torquing BHP and after replacing a couple of sensors the car ran fantastic. Around six months ago I started getting a slight blow from exhaust flexi connector and performance really suffered, but couldn't afford a new exhaust system as mechanic said it was all about knackered and so put up with it until I saved up the cash. Anyway car had a service a couple of weeks ago and showed the rear lambda sensor was iffy, so this was replaced. The car now runs a hell of a lot better, but not as good as it originally did. I have covered a couple of hundred miles since so I presume the ECU will have the correct settings now. So my point is will a slight blow in the exhaust cause much of an issue? (I will be replacing the exhaust next week BTW). I have also heard things about disconnecting the ECU for it to reset itself, don't know how true this is though? Sorry for long winded explanation and thanks in advance.

it will clear any stored codes as such and default the ECU to mapped settings.. I do mine every other month as the ECU adapts to driving styles, if I am driving around on an economy run for a months for some reason then the ECU learns this.. When i disconnect the battery all sensors and ECU default and reset, hey presto instant animal again...

Just out of interest, do you think the slight blowing on the exhaust will make much difference?

Not really, the turbo provides the back pressure but you have a lambda sensor after the flexi. As as advised if the ecu thinks something is out of kilter it will adapt.. Always best to fix exhaust leaks enyway. Flexi sections are cheap enough to replace. When you get a chance you can replace the remainder of the exhaust with a stainless system.

Many thanks to Caveman Nige, did the ECU reset and the car drives like it use you, a really big improvement.... BUT when under load in fourth gear onwards it gets to round about 3-3500prm and I loose all boost, like I have hit a brick wall! Lower gears are fine and if I don't floor it in higher gears its OK, just seems when the turbo is under load such as uphill or if your sending it on a bit. No engine management light and if I turn ignition off and back on its fine again, until fourth gear. Anybody have any ideas??? Thanks

its sounds like you have the Garrett turbo fitted in yours, I am tempted to say without any other info to work off that your wastegate diaphragm or its spring is worn out..
