    Default Hunter alignment prices

I emailed a local company today about how much they charge for hunter alignment since i'll be fitting new tyres. This is what i got back:

Change over of tyres work out at,
    Small sizes upto 16" £14-00
    Large sizes 17"-19" £16-00
above 19" £20-00 (ALL PRICES INC VAT & VALVE AND BALANCE).
    casing disposal £1.50 each

Wheel alighnment starts with a FREE check. Adjustment is from 25-50+vat and each rear adjustment is 10-00+vat(if you vehicle has rear adjusters).
Trying to find someone cheaper for fitting the tyres, so i'll be ringing around (although it seems his prices are about average, blackcircles charge around £13 for fitting)... anyway thats not what this thread is about.

Basically they check the alignment for free, then quote you for the work. I did specify that i knew alignment charges would vary depending on the amount of work required, which is probably why he has been happy to give me rough estimates.

However does this seem to you like a decent deal, or does it sound like one of those "we'll call it a free check, but we're gonna add the price of the check plus a lot more to the work we do afterwards" deals?

The place seems to have a few good reviews online, so i have no reason to distrust them, i just distrust everyone when my wallet is open :P

What an odd pricing structure for Wheel Alignment (using Hunters Equipment)
Normally it is a fixed price, around £60 to £80, no matter whether adjustment is required or not
To charge either an additional £12 or £24 for the rear is most bizarre

    Personally, get three quotes
Balance the overall costs against travel

On a SRi Vectra its vital to get the rear camber checked\adjusted, most places charge extra, some even claim it can't be done, but don't listen.

Thanks for the info Dan. My rear camber was checked and found to be "out" but he put down to the weight in the car (yes it was loaded at the time). I'm sure the guy mentioned that it wasn't an adjustable option and would involve changing components, are yuo telling us that there are camber adjustment options somewhere ? If so, please tell and I'll be right back to the guy

Sorry for the hyjack of the thread...
Woodpeck, where in Warrington did you go? Does it feel better, mine is pulling to the left slightly, had tracking checked and its within tolerance!

The SRi has the camber adjustment bolts present, so these can be adjusted - sure the non-SRi Vectra's don't have them (but can be fitted) so can't be adjusted (out of the box). Defo go back and tell him that it can be adjusted.

mines just a basic club model and the rear is adjustable and from my understanding all c models are adjustable samevas all b models the local lads that did mine said no one likes doing the rears cos the bolts tend to snap so most say can't be done so if you can spray bolts up before then point at them and say look there dumb nut what's that
