    Default 1.9 cdti Z19DT estate engine juddering plus white smoke coming from engine bay

    hi, my estate has a full vsh and recently had an major service. intermittantly after a run, the engine judders on idle like its missing and thereafter i have white smoke coming out from the engine bay. also there is a constant smell of fumes inside the car from the vents. i think thats the smoke filtering into the cabin. my local independant cleaned and refitted the egr valve and the dpf is good and he tested the boost pressure and all was fine at the last service. the car was put on the diagnostics machine and no fault codes were logged. this was 1000 miles ago. as the fault is intermittant they told me to come back when the fault was worse. im lost. any ideas as to wht the problem is? also can i tackle it on my own? ive read on he forum that could be a split exhaust pipe? or the inlet manifold leaking? or a leaky injector? very lost at the moment and suffering stingy eyes as the fumes are unbearable in the cabin.

    greatly appreciate all help and opinions. good with tinkering and have a decent tool box so open to any diy suggestions. thanks in advance.

    As said maybe the flexi on the exhaust or the gasket was not put back on the egr valve ant it's leaking fumes?

    problem existed before the service and cleaning of the egr. so im thinking its something else? any known issues with smokey engines? thanks

    My flexy hose had split so when regened that's where the fumes would escape but not sure about white smoke...

    I had similar symptons on cdti120 and found it to be a slit in the exhaust flexi pipe.

    when mine did that i had a split in the flexi and i clened the egr. got the flexi changed which stopped it coming into the cockpit but then it was coming out the back end. got the egr changed chasing another fault and it stopped altogether.
