    Default 2004 3.0cdti signum auto

    Hi,
    My wife has had this car from 3 months old. Ovee the past 6 months the engine light comes on and it goes into safe mode. Recently this has got much worse. The engine smokes heavily on part throttle and it lacking power. I had it plugged into tech2 and egr fault came up. Do these seem like egr problems? Or can something else register a egr fault? I have read kn the forum about pump valves. These have never been changed in the cars life. Cheers rob

    If the TECH2 diagnosis has returned EGR Valve fault, then this is most likely the cause
    Equally, the symptom you describe match this

    When does the Engine Warning light come on?
    Which Engine Warning light is it?

    You might want to get a third party warranty (I recommend the AA Repair Cover)
    Ask them if it covers Dual Mass FlyWheel, Suction Control Valves, and EGR Valve on this car
    Don't make them aware there is an existing fault
    Once the policy is in effect, wait 30 days then commence a claim

    Generally it starts with the car and spanner (in where the gear selection usually shows) then later the emission light shows. I was hoping fie some advice nit how to commit insurance fraud

    Does sound like egr valve sticking.

    unfortunately their expensive for this engine and buried so looking a couple of hour labour to fit too.

    Is there any other checks I need to do before changing. Also can the blanking plate be used on this engine? I have read on this forum it does not click in limp mode with a mod but don't know if this is for the z engine
