    Default 2.2 SRI. Economical ?

Hi all, I'm new here but would like to say what a fantastic site this is.
Of all the VX forums out there, this the best I've come across. I did post this on a different forum thinking I was here . Never mind, here now

My wife and I just picked up a beautiful auto 2.2 SRI hatch in Ultra Blue from early 04. The colour tipped the balance. Well done Vauxhall for finally introducing some decent colours to your vehicles.

Are there many 2.2 SRI petrol engine drivers here ?? If so, what kind of range are you getting on a full tank ? As we are totally unfamiliar with this vehicle, we are hoping for circa 300 ? Is that about par or are we being optimistic ?

I'm a bit reluctant to trust the trip distance as our old Vectra B variant was way off !

    Thanks all.

we used to have a 2.2 Auto...and it is a nice engine which loves to rev.. even being driven by Mrs GSi like a woman possesed it still gave 27-29 MPG so the 300 miles a tank is realistically acheivable..

My 2.2 SRi manual gave me low to mid 20`s .I found it a lot heavier on petrol than I was expecting to be honest ..

I had an Omega with the 2.2 engine in it, bear in mind that the Omega is slightly bigger than the C and that it is rear wheel drive, anyway for a rough idea of the sort of figures I could get from it under different usages

When I got the car it had been delivered from a 150 miles away and the trip showed 27mpg

Using it as a cab and being on a ratio of 75% urban and 25% @70mph it would return 19 - 21mpg, thats full tank tested btw

Using it to go on holiday, which was two 160 mile trips and 3 days tripping around Devon it still only gave around 28mpg at best.

I'd say you will probably get around 25mpg if you aren't a pedal jockey. hth

I used to have a 2.2 Direct and got no less than 29mpg around town and 36mpg on a run. I understand the older 2.2 engines dont seem to be quite as economical, looking at folks post on here.....

This is the yard stick I'd use, and bear in mind you are in an auto, so take a couple of miles off it.
