I would definitely suggest a phrase-book for those 'completely lost in a foreign country' moments!!!!!!

Seriously though, I would have a look at something like this - has a section to type in the country of your choice, and hey presto, all you need to know!!

(and you could possibly think about taking me along................... )

Varies by country, so a destination and route would be helpful...

However the AA have produced a "compulsory list" :
    http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice...equipment.html

Also make sure your insurance is adequate, espeically if you are going to be out of the UK for more than 30 day

Complete the EHIC (replaces the E111)

Taken from Various AA sources ..

not all this is needed in EVERY country, but it'll be wanted in one of them.. and as we're in a convoy we'll attract a lot of 'attention'....

    we need to take..

    V5 registration document ( original)
    Insurance certs ( original)
Have GB stickers or GB 'euro' plates
    Triangle
    1st aid kit
    Fire extingusher
Headlamp covers or adjust the lamps on pre-facelifts
    Replacement bulbs for all lamps

    two things of note.

In germany they now wish drivers to use dipped headlights in the daytime, no matter what the weather..

and radar detectors are illegal and persons found with them ( even if they are in the boot) will face a big fine and the possible destruction of their car..( so leave them at home folks)..

You'll also need a high-vis vest for each passenger,a couple of years ago i got caught in Switzerland with a detector, they weren't worried by the 3 figure speed just the detector,£500 fine and lost the detector, but they do take credit cards!.
