Default The valeter,s job from hell

As my continuos search for new employment i came across an add for 2 valeter,s required for a local company to me , well only 3 miles away

Phoned them up this morning had a chat with the guy and decided to go down for a more formal meeting .
He asked me if i had done any valeting so i explained that i was a self employed detailer and that i had a fair bit of private work coming in and was looking for something extra .
this appeared to go right over his head so i just cut it short and said yes i had done valeting
Right he said (well he was irish ) there hours is
    09.00 to 19.00
mon to fri and 08.00 to 18.00 on saturday.
Do the maths its 60hrs a week and the princelly sum for this labour £250 a week
That equats to £4.17 an hour
I know the labour market is pretty dour at the moment but i can not believe that any company should be allowed to get away with paying there employees this kind of wage
By the way the national minimum wage is supposed to be £6.19 an hour

Needless to say i declined there offer

They'll find some illegals to exploit. personally I would report them toThe Department for Work & Pensions or The Health & Safety Executive act, they will take a closer look at their practices with a bit of luck they get fined.

You should report them as they are legally required to pay the minimum salary.

Definately report them to DWP. I suspect this is not the ony law they are breaking. You never know, you could be saving someone a huge deal of grief.

Nothing to do with Health and Safety chap, it's the working time regulations that they would be in breach of, as well as whatever legislation enforces the minimum wage requirements.
