    Question Wheel jack collapsed!

As title, last night leaving work I noticed my rear passenger tyre was flat. Big screw through tyre. Got the jack etc out and when almost high enough to take wheel off the jack collapsed! Thank god the wheel was still on although the jack has damaged the side skirt!
Jack was as new and spare un used so am very shocked
Was thinking of complaining to Vauxhall to see if they will cover the repair and supply a new jack.
    Thoughts?

How did it collapse? Was it located underneath the car correctly?

The threads slipped on my one once and ive used a proper trolley jack ever since. I think the supplied jack is only designed for use in emergencys.

Very common, seen one fail in front of me (Hyperhart's at one of our meetups) and seen several people post about it. Someone posted the other week their's had snapped.

They are only designed for emergency use, but yeah it's pretty crap if that's when they break and you haven't used it regularly or anything.

Changed hundreds of tyres before. Was a flat surface and jack located correctly. Got two trolley jacks at home but as stated was in work so would assume I could rely on this Vauxhall supplied jack in that situation!

I used to use mine regularly, but even I've had a twitchy bum moment when the last one slipped doing suspension, bottom lips bit bent but luckily it jammed under the car and saved the skirt, still semi jacked up!!

I keep a bottle jack in the boot for emergency, road-side situations, and a trolley jack for repair work at home.

As per other posts on here if your looking for a replacement for these scissor jacks look for a saab 9 3 one there exactly the same design but they are far more sturdier than the rubbish ones that vx supply

Seen this happen too. I always put the wheel under the car in case the jack collapses.
