Question 1.9 cdti 150BHP vectra c remap help?

Firstly i'll start by telling you i bought myself a vectra 1.9 cdti 150 sri last week and have instantly fallen in love with it haha.

Today, i happened to get it remapped (you know, like you do .. ) for a very good price as well may i add, the price started at £250 but i was cheeky and got it done for £100. but to me the situation seem majorly suspect. Obviously i have no idea what remapping a car entails but he plugged her(my car) in, got all the info off it and then rang someone and told them to send him the file over. after say ten minutes a file arrived and he updated my ecu. he then went on to tell me how the ecu's have a thing called 'E-Learning' meaning my car is still essentially remapping itself after it has been remapped? this is what raised my suspicion. He told me i needed to drive 5 miles without taking the car above 2500 rpm, then after my 5 miles, put my toe down, then not take it above 2500 rpm again. He told me i would need to do this for 50 miles. I personally have never heard of this? I dont want my car having a million problems because some dodgy bloke has updated my ecu with a tesco value bit of coding? I just wish i knew someone who could plug my car in and check out the coding or whatever it is? make sure my car isnt going to blow up after 2/3 days.

if someone could point me in the right direction i would definitely appreciate it.

    Sorry for the rant!! haha..

That does not seem right I see you are based in Manchester the best bit of advice I will give you which I'm sure others will do too is give Ben a call @ mas performance hes only over in Keighley and get a decent proven map loaded on he will also give you a before and after run on the rollers and it will only set you back about £200

What a load of bull the 'tuner' has told you! There are some minor adaptations that take place over time, but nothing major.

I'm over the other side of the country to the OP, but the OP could buy a tool to read the ecu using his laptop and send me the file for inspection.

amarkey - PM me if you want to discuss this option.
