    Default Headlight Protectors

Are there an issues with fitting Headlight protectors to cars fitted with headlight washers? sounds like a dumb question but was just wondering?

Would it be better to fit clear protectors to a car with dark headlamps?

    Thanks

Did you know that the protectors only allow 88% of the light to get through so you are reducing the headlamp performance.

That is with clean, unscratched protectors.

    I would never fit them.

Personal opinion, I think a car with protectors looks like it's wearing specs. Then again, new headlights aren't cheap.

no light issues with me, an i finish work at 2am

some for sale on ebay item 170072641399

not sure about the washers matey , as long as there is a gap for you to be able to get the protector past and onto the headlight you should be ok, the protectors have a lip on the bottom about 2.5cm but that sits under the light unit, the protectors themselves are only 2mm thick, + a set of rubber stops to keep the protector from damaging the headlight, all in probably sits about 4mm proud of the headlight, hope this helps

i only put them on to darken the front down a bit, since fitted dark lights , thats why they`re on ebay they do stick out a bit from side veiw and take away from the sleek lines of the motor, but as said befor they`ll protect your lights your choice , will try to find a picture side on...

closest to side on I`ve got, might help you deside eh

I had headlamp protectors on my previous Rover (blimey that's going back 10 years) and my Vectra B
They are a compromise, in that reduce the headlamp efficiency (but not noticeably) and in the event of damage they are easily and cheaply replaced

On my Rover one was damaged but remained intact
I then replaced it a few days later at just £18
I am quite sure had the headlamp been smashed the cost would have been near on £60
So you invest £18 as insurance basically...

Blimey I've got more insurance on my car than myself!
