Default z20 net timing chain set up help!

after reading posts about a ticking noise from cold tick over i decided to do my timing chain and tensioner. as i stripped down the car and got to it i saw the problem wasnt the timing chain but the tensioner was knackered on the other chain. unfortunatly for me the timing chain slipped as i was trying to remove the other chain and tensioner. id tippexed what i could and built it up thinking everything was ok and started it up. it started up fine but then had a slight miss and the engine management light was flashing. did a fault code test and it came up with multiple engine missfire. so ive timed it up wrong. what i was wondering is how do i go about setting it all up again because it all looked fine to me. could it be 1 tooth out on the chain? i no about the timing marks but i cudnt get everything to line up in the first place, i no that doesnt make any sense because the car was running fine before. if any1 had a pic of how it should be that would be great or a brief expination as if my chain had snapped and how to set it up from scratch? sorry for the long post, just trying to explain to the best i can. any help greatly apriciated!

Even though i assume you have the crank set at TDC, I guess you did not use a cam locking tool.. without having done that I am not sure where to start.. Did you lock them off?

I think the guys over on z22se have more experience of this ...

you could say its a bit late now.. I don't know the particular part number for the one you will need.. You can get it as part of a kit but it will be the same one as z22se i shoudl think.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLEARANCE-...item2a25d58d2a

Then there is this option, I cannot vouch for them as I have not used one of these myself.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-...item5d38e1c48d

the z22se lads are known for rebuilding their engines and have good info, the z20net is derived from the z22se and are therefore very similar..

thanks nige, the only ones iv seen are the ones in the haynes manual that bolt on to a cam lobe and its like half an egg shape on its side but i cant find those ones. will the ones in the kit be right, i cant see how they would fit in and lock the two cams at once

I wouldn't buy anything from a place that gets the engine facts wrong and also associates it to another engine the YH when its closest to the SE..

You could call places like Neo Brothers, AbBott Racing or SaabFlight to see what they do with these.. Ingore the VX stealers as they would not have a clue.....
