Time for a first time polish

Hey guys, after recently buying my Vec C and getting all the jobs done on it I think it's time to give it a good first time polish so need a little help. Although not sure when I'll get it done as the weather is crap and I don't have a garage so waiting on the next half decent day.

Anyways, I have have the following:

1. 600-3000 rpm Polisher (Cheap but does the job)
2. Meguiars Ultimate compound
3. Meguiars 105 Ultra Cut Compound
4. Auto Glym Super Resin Polish
5. Auto Glym High Gloss Protection Sealer
6. Micro fibre cloths
7. Meguiars Water Magnet
8. Meguiars WWHC7 for heavy cutting
9. Various types of cutting and finishing sponges/bonnets
10. T-Cut
11. Turtle Wax green car wax
12 Loads of masking tape

Is there anything else I would need? The car has a few light scratches which I think will buff out ok and I have already done the touch up paintwork about a week ago and seems it's the best I can do for now but overall the car is in pretty good condition. I was going to buy a clay bar but seeing as I'm going to use the ultimate compound I thought I wouldn't need this or is this not the case?

Been reading through the stickies and how 2's but a lot of it is a bit too complicated and just want the basics. I have used the polisher before and I'm no master but getting better each time I use it. Just a quick guide as to what to start off, apart from washing the car that is....lol. I found when using the polisher before it seemed to dry out very quickly and then ended up really wet as I had to add more polish/compound and was wondering do you need to prime the sponge etc?

If you are going all out mate, then i would recommend claying the car first. As the old addage goes - Preperation, Preperation, Preperation. The materials you have already listed will do the job, but why not start from a perfectly smooth surface and get rid of any contaminents before you start.

Claying is so much easier than how it is sometimes described. Basically, wash the car down. Get your clay, spray the lube on the car and gently apply the clay. Not a lot of pressure needed and constantly re-mould the clay to keep a clean face to the clay. Cardinal rule is - if you drop the clay - BIN IT

Go easy with the 105, its a heavy cut compound, and if using it you really should have 205 to finish, not sure if the Ultimate compound will be enough to remove the marks 105 may make. I would just use the Ultimate compound and see how that works for you. Just use quick detailer to prime the pads, that should help stop them drying out, a quick spray of the pad every now and again helps too.

As das said the 105 is a heavy putting compound also is that a rotary polisher if so go get a scrap bit of metal to practice on as u cam easily burn through the paint just watch some YouTube vids lol

Cheers guys, I'll get a clay bar and do the whole car first. Will take my time doing it basically over a few days. I'll try the Ultimate compound first on the scratches and if that doesn't work I'll use the 105 but only on the scratches as the rest of the car is in pretty good condition. Just want to get it buffed up and well protected but have to wait on some half decent weather. It's snowing today so a big no no there and I don't think it will be improving any over the next few days. Can't wait to get stuck in but I'll just have to be patient and take my time
