    Default 1.9 cdti cambelt

Hi, I am looking at changing the cambelt on my vectra 1.9 cdti is it a diy job (2 1/2 spanners on the haynes scale) or can someone recommend me a good garage in the dartford area.
Kings (vx dealer) do a fixed price of £249 cambelt and then with waterpump £540 + vat

    any advice please Brian

Having mine done today at Vx dealer, they told me to apply for a Masterfit card (25% discount) also Masterfit emailed me a £40 off voucher, so £267 for timing belt and water pump ( inc vat )

That's not bad as the parts are about £160 trade from dealers

They havent got a clue! Double check that with them, someone else got roughly the same quote, when they queried it they got it down to about £340 inc vat. Genuine water pump is about £70, and labour should only be about an extra 15 minutes.

That looks decent value for a main dealer.

Which VX dealer are you using? Wrexham or is there one in Llan?

i did mine about 4 months ago, i have done a few cambelts on other cars in the past.

There are some excellent how to's both on here and on the net, there are even a few on you tube that are excellent.

I did it in about 3 hours and i was taking my time with it.

The beauty of a CDTI 150 is you dont have to time the fuel pump and also there is only one cam wheel, its lie doing a cambelt on an 8v engine

Dickens in Wrexham, first time using the Vx bit, very impressed with every aspect, also had thermostat replaced. Total for timing belt, water pump and thermostat was £330 inc vat.
Used the Peugeot part of Dickens twice, not impressed
