Default HID issues - given up, but should I?

Hi all, used a few different HID kits, they work fine during the summer but as soon as it gets could one might not light up. I put the kit in the bin and now run normal bulbs. I do miss the hids, should i try a differnt kit. I was using CanbusPro 35w kit, do the higher watt kits work better. II cant be doing with something that might not work during the cold months.

May be down to where your ballasts are sited, mine first went in the wings, and it was not a draughty enough location for them to keep dry.

i always say to everyone if you are going to install HID's don't a lazy b*****d and do it properly mount them under the headlights were the original ballasts would of went you are talking some serious voltages with HID's and they should not be over looked by just cable tying this here and that there is not a good idea as said get another kid or the same one if it still works and do the job properly bumper off lights out mount the ballasts underneath and all should be fine

I fitted them well, bumper off and the lot. Still seem to pack up on one side after a while. i even used sealer to go round the ballasts.

This is what i use and still going strong. Ballast is located behind bumper under headlights. Recommend that greatly ;-)

Did you have to remove the headlights to get the ballasts there? At present my passanger side is secured inside the battery box, so pretty protected I'd say, but the driver's is secured with a strap underneath the front cross member near the airbox. This seems to me to be a decently protected place as it's not in the airflow from the front but even if it was, would that not help a bit with cooling? I even wonder if the passanger one might get a bit warm inside the battery box.

Get ones with a 12 month or 2 year warranty and then claim on it if it goes again. Mount it anywhere then if it goes and they send you a replacement ballast its easy to unclip and swap.

yeah I guess, I use my signum as a work commute car. Do 90 miles each way (Mondays and Fridays) so cant really afford to have lights that pack up.... wonder if its just crap ballasts.

I'd love factory fitted hids but as my time machine seems to have broken its flux capacitor I have to make do with aftermarket kits.
