    Default B*gger!!!

I sat and typed out a long winded message to post and deleted it by mistake, I'm blaming the iPad lol
anyway I'm trying to find an annoying clunk from the front end, today I pulled both struts out to check the top mounts, both were fine although the bearings had some slack in them but rotated freely and looked okay, the balls weren't rusty and all were present, i greased them up and put it back together. Should the upper bearings be tight and obviously rotate or do they always have slack in them, I'm assuming it can't move once everything is all buttoned together again, but maybe that's where the clunk is coming from ??

I'm going to replace the front drop links as the rubber boot on one has been damaged but this time I'm hoping for uprated ones, any recommendations for them?

The other thing I did today was the handbrake wasn't working on the drivers side so I pulled that apart and got it working but the external dust seal is toast. I looked for new seal kits and found them for £20 each but did a search here and found a company that sells brand new complete calipers for £45 each, I've actually dealt with them before on eBay and there cv joints are good quality, j/r is the company.

While I was working on the rear wheels I tried tugging on the wheel while it was jacked up as there's a knock comming from both sides at the back too, I thought it was maybe the cheap banana arms I replaced last year had gone again but I couldn't feel any play?? It had last year, I think, new arb bushes, banana arms and drop links. It was quiet for a while, but its making noises again.

Trying to get these jobs done as its mot time again in a month or so.

My clunk on the front which I sorted recently was my near side driveshaft innercv joint, moved quite a bit and when I grabbed hold of it and pulled it towards the wheel and back towards the gearbox it made a clunk noise. Have you checked your driveshafts just to cancel that one out? As for the rear, it could still be your upper control arms, put the car on the ground and grab the top of the wheel and give it a tug, as for drop links get the Saab updated ones from parts for saabs, if you write in the comments box when ordering Vectra-c.com and your user name you get them for £36 delivered I think it is. Thanks shb1998, I appreciate your suggestion, anything to check is worth while as I thought I had run out of places to look. I'll try the driveshaft. And thanks for everything else

Thanks shinyb1, I had a quick check on them while the drivers strut was out but that side was actually replaced last mot as the alloy shell for the bush had split with corrosion, I wish I had seen the complete wish bones on eBay first as they were cheaper than the genuine vauxhall one I got and mine was a pig to come off, I had to cut it off in about a hundred bits.
