bleeding brakes

I have just replaced the front drivers side brake pipe and hose , from the abs pump to the caliper, I have bleed the brakes twice now but the pedal still seems soft, rock hard after a couple of pumps without engine running, with engine running it seems softer.

I used a bleeding kit and loosened the bleed nipple with a pipe attached into a bottle of brake fluid, filled the reserviour with fluid and pumped the brake pedal until fluid came out , pumped around 500ml through in total.

Any ideas ? Do I need to bleed the abs pump or other calipers ?

Try bleeding it again.
pump pedal until its hard and keep ign pressure when nipple is opened.

start drivers sode rear, the passenger, then passenger front finishing at drivers front

ensure all connections are tight and sealing correctly.

was the pipe pre made or did you make it?

Ok thanks , pipe was from a bleeding kit new pvc clear pipe and the end went into a bottle with the tube below the fluid.

I can't see how any air go into the abs pump or the other sections, but certainly worth doing to rule out.

No I meant the pipe to abs pump. Was that pre made?

Oh sorry, bought a pipe from local motor factors , copper with crimped ends , checked both caliper and abs pump end and no sign of leaks , why do you suspect a leak in the pipe ?

Preasure bleed it mate.. Eezibleed kits are fantastic for this.

If you have fitted new disc's and pads at the same time they may seem 'softer' until bedded in ?

No mate I suspected that joint may not have rolled up enough.

as above pressure bleed or 2 person method as mentioned in my previous post.

If you have opened up the system inc abs pump ,only way you'll get air out is with easi bleed kit.

I ended up getting the Eezibleed kit today will have a go at it tonight on just the front drivers wheel I was working on..

Tried the eazibleed kit tonight out in the freezing cold, seemed to get some air out , but u ran out of fluid , still with a intermittent stream of bubbles, did recycle some fluid but think I will pickup some more fluid and give it another go.

Went for a drive and didn't seem much different , can still hear the air from the servo assist working when I brake with the engine running, how much fluid should I expect to need to bleed out any air on a caliper?
