    Default HID knowledge required

Installed my HID kit this morning after getting the replacement ballast. Both bulbs ignite with the ignition off however if I start the car the bulbs turn off and will not come back on.

Do I need to get Xenons activated or fit cancellers?

Car is a full canbus pre-facelift.

If i'm reading this your saying you turn on your headlights then start the car? if so try starting the car then turning on the lights.

Mine was still ok without xenons activated, only noticable difference is they now don't flicker when turned off due to the car doing it's check on the bulbs

Try turning the switch from sides to hids very slowly see if they fire up... One of mine has started going and does similar, but it is 3 year old, maybe faulty ballast?

The reason the HIDs do not work is that they are getting a pulsed current. They will work when the engine is turned off as the current does not become pulsed until the engine is started.Halogen lights require a pulsed current which makes them last longer and stay brighter. HIDs do not need a pulsed current and therefore you need to activate "Xenons" in the under bonnet ECU which turns of the pulse and also the bulb check.

HIDs will not work unless you use additional hardware or activate them

    Thanks for that explanation
