Default Which Engine Oil is best?

    I have a 1.9cdti 120 Siggy at 80k miles.

Currently very rattly at cold start. Recently put Triple QX fully synthetic oil in it (from ECP) and wondering if it is contributing to the problem?

I've got this oil in my cdti120 and runs great on it, very quiet and smooth. i'm using the 5w40 version of it.

You could try the 2 stroke oil in the fuel, theres a few threads on here somewhere. That seems to quieten them down.

Was it rattling much before the oil change? What viscosity are you using? 5w-40, 5w-30, 10w-40 etc.

    Cheers

I never noticed it before but the weather was quite warm before so can't be certain if it was a contributing factor. I think it was 5w40 Fully Synthetic.

Sometimes a car won't really get on with an oil (higher oil consumption/more engine noise) even though the oil appears right for the car. Trying another 5w-40 is a good plan and ester based ones (like Dan Danz is using) are the best ones for keeping things quiet.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the ester ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

    Cheers
