    Default EGR Cooler Blank Question

Hi, I have a 120 cdti and I think that the pipe that runs from my Egr cooler to the egr valve is split as i have exhaust gases in the cab at standstill and also a high pitched whistling when accelerating under load at 2000rpm plus (no apparent affect on the car other than the noise). i have purchased an egr blanking plate off of ebay my question is could i blank the end of the pipe off the cooler end rather than the egr end to save me having to pay £100+ for the egr cooler pipe?

I assume you mean where the egr pipe is attached to the exhaust manifold. I seem to remember this looked the same size/shape as the other end. If the blanking plate fits in the alternative location and you use two new gaskets, I see no reason why not.

I recommend blanking both ends when mapping out the egr as the cooler can be ruptured.

No you shouldn't need gaskets - but have a look at this how2 - http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...blanking-plate
Dead easy to make a blank - just don't drill the holes in the middle if you want a complete blank.
As said above if you do a complete blanking off you will probably get a warning light thrown up on your dash and you will have to have the EGR programmed out to get rid of the light.
