No if the engine is hunting as in the video then its the throttle position sensor thats knackered
Do as the guy does and pull of the vacuum hose only at the other end near the egr ,block off both connection,s the engine will now stabilise .
This will be a short term fix , but in ther long run you need a new inlet manifold with the tps sensor
vx dont do the tps by itself so probably best to hunt a replacement from a breakers.
To buy a new manifold from vx your looking at the best part of £400 but some of the online seelers sometimes get them in stock but they dont hang around very long .
Seen one recently (late last year for £182 plus vat )so around half price compared to vx

? Garage said that they replaced the EGR on my old (dearly departed) Signum 2.2DTi and it fixed the same symptoms. It was done under warranty so I have no paperwork to check back on. It was 5 years ago now. The fault put EML light on, the engine would hunt, there was no response to the throttle - dead handly if you were trying to turn right onto a busy road. How I didn't get taken roughly from behind that day was a mystery to me!
I guess getting the error codes read would be the best next step? I though that the 2.2DTi was "drive by wire" so that there is only a TPS on the pedal in the cabin and not one on the engine as in some of the petrol variants?

    bogbody .
some have the tps on the pedal and others as in the one inthe video have it on the manifold .
in total there are 3 different variants of manifold for the DT1 engine,s
but one thing i do agree on his have the fault code,s read first before taking any further action

Rachr ask on here if there,s anyone near you who can assist you in getting the code,s read .
a stealer will charge you around £70 just to havve the codes read

egr looks brand new took it out it was very clean but i did it anyway, top part of the inlert manifold replaced this is the one with 2 conectors.tried the unplug of the hose puts the light on and car feels underpowered.this an intermitent fault and sometmes its great,i was told by a mechanic when it does it disconect the airflow meter and it will be o.k plug it back in and it does it gain,he was right.so got an airflow meter and all was good again for 2 days as it is whenever you fit a new part, and then judder starts again always around 2000 rpm area, all the parts came from a breakers, only fault found was bcm had that done at the stealers

first of all thanks for all your help so far.taken egr out today, gave it a good clean up not much soot really, took the grey plastic cover of the end like i said it looks new,BUT and thats a big but,i noticed inside the cover sooty spots,so opening the valve with the lever checked for side movement in the valve itself and there is,could it be drawing air in through the guide????
