Default pictures of springs before they were fitted to your car

has anyone got any pictures of their springs before they fitted them to their car?

More so the top of the front springs?

The reason for this is due to the fact i bought a brand new set of Apex lowering springs -35mm and when i fitted them to the car the second coil from top seems to hit the outer casing on the bearing housing. Iv tested this by inserting a piece of rubber between the top two coils and the noise has completely stopped.

For more Info See thread: clicking top mounts

i just want to see if its the springs that are causing this issue or if its the struts them selves so i know if i need a refund or if i just need new struts. Personally i cant see the struts making a bit of difference as as soon as i go over a larger bump the second coil will be forced over the top coil again anyway.

    Thanks in advanced Craig

theres photos of it on my other thread..

theres a top bearing which is what the spring sits over and then a top mount im assuming when you mean top collar your talking of the bearing.

not the bearing its the plat that sits between the bearing and spring. i will try get a picture to show you. but your spring doesnt look aligned to the collar. it looks wonky to one side.

well the springs certainly aligned in the bottom of the strut i cant get it to sit any further round!?

if you can get a picture of this part thats meant to go between the bearing and the spring that would be very helpful

at a guess does it look like a rubber boot that protects the strut and has a flat plate on it as well iv put that at that bottom but im beginning to think that might be meant to be at the top of the strut hanging down from the bearing rather then sittin on the bottom facing up.

It should be spring, metal plate ensure end of spring sides in to the recess then bearing secured by a nut before you it the rubber mount ready to be installed in to the car. You have to ensure the metal plate is far enough down for the bearing to locate on to the top of the unthreaded part of the shock. Will upload a picture when I get home from work

got to be honest i need a diagram to show this.. After looking at a build up for the shock on some link someone sent for the vectra i have all the parts required apart from the disc that goes between the bearing and the top mount which apparently isnt needed any more and i certainly didnt have when i took the old springs off.

the metal spring is slid into the recess at the bottom of the strut then at the top its just the bearing that sits on top of the spring and then the bearing sits onto the top mount.. im not sure what the part is that your talking about.

    thanks Craig
