    Default CV Boot

Hey all, I got to replace a passenger side CV Boot on my 02 Vec 2.2 DTI and ordered a replacement boot and cone etc. Was wondering is this a handy enough job? Can I get away with just unbolting the 2 bolts from the shock without having to go near the lower ball joint? I hate going near ball joints as I always seem to do more harm than good.

Was hoping to do it like this:

    1. Jack car up and place axle stand.
    2. Wheel off and brake caliper off and tied up out of the way.
    3. Remove 2 bolts from shock.
    4. Pull hub forward knock drive shaft from hub and replace boot.

    Sounds easy but never is...lol

Should be able to get it the way you've said mate.

just make sure you've got a bungee or rope etc to tie it up or place back on shock whilst you change boot

you don't want the weight if the hub just hanging on ball joint

Thanks for the reply mate, never thought of that. See I told you I'm not good with ball joints, would have had it wrecked before I even started...lol. Will have a bash when the boot arrives

That's how I did mine and whilst replacing the boot, I just it put the hub assembly, back into the shock to take the weight. Bear in mind, it's much easier to remove the driveshaft from the car to replace the boot. Doing it on the car is a right pig and will cause you nothing but problems!
