    Default Insurance Renewal

My renewal is due on 1st Feb.. I've not had any renewal sent though yet, so I though that, as I'm off today, I'll ring up and see how much they will rob me for this year.

£1800 they said. I queried this, saying there must be a mistake. They said they was a mistake, should be £1998 They said it was very competitive for my area. I said I'll think about it.

Just been shopping around, came up with a different insurer for a nice sum of £394

So that's me paid up for another year.

Wonder how may people would have just paid their renewal without shopping around......

At least Dick Turpin used to wear a mask when he robbed people.

Always best to shop around when its renewal time ive never stayed with the same company unless they price match the cheaper quote, they always put it up and see if you just pay it as some people have there renewal set as automatic from the bank so never look around

I shop around every year Mark. I did have a long stay with E sure a while back. They were cheapest for 3 years running, then went to Admiral, then back to Esure, now Swiftcover (way cheaper than any other quote) for the coming 12 months

Swiftcover may be cheap, but I understand their after sales/accident service is terrible. But as you are not planing on having an accident you should be ok.

I also shop around each year as you never get rewarded for loyalty or having another accident free year. I am with Hastings Direct this year, previously with Endleigh and have also used the Policy Shop who were very good for a few years.

What really bugs me is that you have to pay an Insurance Premuim Tax?? Why was this ever allowed, we pay tax on our income, tax to use the roads, 2 taxes on the fuel (fuel duty and VAT) and as part of the requirement to have a car on the road, insurance. They then sting another tax on the insurance.

RIP OFF Britain, is it anywonder people emigrate and make it R.I.P. Britain.

My insurance with Direct Line went up last year from £600 to £990! that's mad! After few hours of shoping aroud I had some quotations near £500 mark
But then I came across Swiftcover and their quote was £356 only!
The only downside was that I had to pay whole lump sum instead of monthly payments I used to pay in previous years
I really don't know how to justify such big differencies between each
