    Default Bumhole hurting very muchly!!!!!

Just had a phone call from the garage to see whats wrong with the car and how much its gunna cost me to fix it.

Gotta have the Flywheel and Slave Cylinder changed, so im also having the Clutch done as well.

£745!! Well as long as it sorts the car out i guess but it never comes at the right time lol.

Thought i would share this info with you guys.

    Thanks Alan.

    What was the symptom?
Is that an independent or dealership?
Seems a far price, as the OE parts alone can be around £600

It is a shame that when the DMF fails it takes the clutch with it

Fair price for the work getting carried out

It'll be good for another 100k miles if looked after

Which engine is that? I suspect the DMF in my GSi may, just may, need replacing. But I am paranoid about such things! For what it's worth, I think you aare right to get it all done at the same time. It should keep costs down in the long run. ;-) Paul

Ok. I wonder how much I'd be looking at for my GSi. A new DMF along is £440 - the cheapest I've found. The three piece clutch kit is about £200. I suspect I'd be looking at north of £800 to get mine done by my local friendly indepedent garage. :-o Oh dear. Paul

Ah. Yes. That picture was taken not long after I bought the car. :-D You should see it now! :-o It's had a hard life and it shows. 145,000 miles just coming up (over the weekend, probably). I still love the car, though. It's been an amazing car - and still is. I'd have another Vectra in a heartbeat, to be honest. Nowt wrong with the diesels either. ;-) I looked at a DTI too. Nowadays, I'd probably go for a VXR or perhaps a 2.0 Turbo, if I could find a good one and needed another car, which I don't - yet. Paul
