Default F*****g road humps!! any recourse from Authority?

Ended up on a one way system last night, so couldnt backtrack..came to some ridiculously steep road humps...and had to try to negotiate them..i was cringing at the sound from front of car... the result is below!!.. gutted!!

Do i have any re-course with the local authority, or will i just get "your car is too low mate, not our problem?" from them?

I got to my destination, had a look expecting maybe a few scuffs, or a crack! but not this!

Secondly, anyone know what splitter this is so i can find a replacement. It was on car when i got it so dont know the make/type/name of it?

    Cheers

thats a hell of an extension on the front. I'd say you are peeing in the wind with your mouth open when it comes to the council. I'd take it off and put a standard lip on or something less huge!

Nothing to stop you trying your luck with them.

A pic of your car and a pic of the road hump together, and send it to the council recorded delivery, with an estimate for repair.

Speed humps are another thing id ban if I ever came to power, we have them around my area, in a 30mph zone. 30mph!!! Stuff that.

As Tony says try your luck, youve nothing to loose.

There's nothing wrong with them providing they are put in the correct place and built correctly and to a standard which they don't seem to be. There is never any consistency with them - some practically do nothing, some a fit for the job and others are a total shambles ie to steep and high.

Round my way they are the perfect width to stop cars doing 30 mph(which is strange in a 30mph zone), but are perfect for Buses and Lorrys, they dont have to slow down at all. As a pedestrian I know what id rather be hit by, and its not the Double Decker bus option!

I thought speed humps could only be a certain height? Might be worth measuring?!?

they should be no more than 75mm high with a 1:15 ramp either side if flat top or 50 to 75mm if round top to comply with DoT guidelines iirc (unless that's changed in recent years)
