Default HIDs do they need to connect to battery?

Finally got then today after ordering Xmas day. I connected everything and they work fine. About to chuck to box away and I found some more wires! I looked in the instruction booklet and they attach to the battery. Do I really need this?

Some kits come with extra relay wiring to wire direct to the battery, but you don't need them for the Vec, so can disregard.

I own a 2002/2003 Vec and I had to connect it to the battery. Otherwise it was like I had strobelight or one eyed most of the time

its was this kit, poor service over the Xmas period tho. I think they sent the wrong colour to as they are more green/blue then a little tint of blue (6000k)

Also came with wrong connectors so I had to get a hack saw on them to fit and wrapped in tape lol
