Default 314 brake upgrade, whats involved?

Im thinking of upgrading to 314mm front brakes. Whats involved and needed.... is it a straight forward parts swap over? is it really worth it, are they much better? Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

Completely different parts - calipers, carriers, discs and pads. Well worth it. I've had 314 upgrades on my 1.9CDTI and my previous 2.0T and they make one helluva difference. They stop quicker, harder and longer. Standard 285's are not up to the job if you need to stop quickly at high speed.

You'll need calipers, carriers pads and discs and the fitting is pretty straight forward. You will however have to cut the disc back plate if you have a facelift, just enough to clear the caliper

Only if you take the drive shaft out and the hub off not worth the hassle

i would upgrade the brake hoses to braided hoses while your at it too.. not expensive and best done while your doing such a caliper change..

oh yeah and as stated above the 314mm brakes make a big dfference.. I have them on mine and have a set ready to fit on my wife's 1.8 vec as they don't feel right (especially after driving my car).

Got a feeling that the space saver wheel wont fit on if you upgrade to bigger brakes?
