    Default 2.2 timing chain replacement

Any ideas of anyone that can do this up here in the north east looks like to big a job for me to tackle!
One mechanic suggested just replacing the tensioner as he reckons the spring has gone in it and that's why mine is noisey until the oil gets there, he says it screws in from the back of the engine and that's all that needs replacing so just change that.
Does that sound right to anyone or is he a cowboy?
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like he rides a horse and wears a Stetson.

The chain needs inspecting at the very least to check for wear. And it's always good practice to change the camchain as part of a kit.

The 2.2 petrol tensioner is accessable from the rear of the engine too. Not always easy just to screw out and back in though. Best to do it with the relevant engine covers removed to make sure everything lines up correctly.

Looks like he's posted the wrong link.

Looking back at previous posts, he says he's got a 2.2 petrol
