Default Had my Car Serviced - a few questions

    Hi,

I had my car serviced on Tuesday (1.9 CDTi 150 55 plate facelift- first service). All went well, with it ready to be collected by lunch time and the heater switch fixed under warranty (it didnt work on position 1-3 - normal aircon not climate). I even got a £10 reduction over the quoted cost £155 instead of £165, which is nice!

what I would like to ask is I noticed on the invoice that they had done some software upgrades, but the service manager was at lunch and unavailable to ask to find out what the updates are - does any one know what the updates may be?

Also - and I know that there is a few threads about this already so sorry Mods, they have written in the service book thats its due its next service in 30k or 12 months, instead of the normal 20k/12months - is this normal?

    cheers

30K is the schedule for a diesel Ian, 20K is for petrols.

The thing is in the service book for my car, it states 20k or 12 months, and the first service was listed as being 20k/12months on the sticker on the windscreen - thats whats got me confused!

Right, they obviously weren't aware it was a diesel when they stuck the sticker on - it must be running really smoothly then!!

The service booklet should mention in parts about being 30,000 for diesels in the schedule somewhere. Without nipping out to the car to look at my service book, I can't recall exactly where it says it, but it definitely mentions the 30,000 on mine anyway. I don't believe anything changed on facelifts regarding servicing in relation to the 20/30K difference for petrol/diesels? - or did it?

Just got this off the vaux website - from reading it appears that the diesel service was 30k, but from 2006 the service is 20k for diesels too. Mine was registered in Oct 2005 so I would think its falls into the first category, but then whats different about a 55plate to a 06plate facelift?

I don't know all the updates they would have done, but they are altering the programming on the Deisel particulate filter to make it re-generate more often..no announcement. just as the cars come in for service..

The 1.9 CDTI (150) is due for servicing every 20,000 miles or 12 months... looked it up when I bought mine. In fact, I'm looking at it now too! But mine does have the DPF (it's a newie)!

Found this... but it does say the 1.9 CDTI (120) is a 16 valver, but it only has a single cam. Typo!!!

I think you will find they clear the ecu and reload it on most services, it's nothing to worry about it just helps stop false alarm lights on the dash and removes any corrupt data from the ecu.

On a £165 service, you will have had a new oil, pollen and maybe air filters, plus the oil obviously, brakes and suspension will have been inspected and the washer bottle topped up.
