    Default 4th Yearly Main Service

Evening guys was wondering about getting the 4 year service done somewhere else than a main dealer as they want £327 for the 4 year main service and I gotta start watching the pennies now , what do ya recon or just stump up for main dealer service if it's better ? Many thanks for any input Ralph

Depending whats involved mate and how handy you are with spanners you could do most if not all of it your self and save alot of money. I done all the filters and the oils and plugs for under £40 by myself in a couple of hours.

Oil, Oil filter, spark plugs, pollen filter, fuel filter.

Parts around £50 from Vauxhall on trade club and then a couple of hours tops to change yourself.

In that case use an independent garage.

Mine had F.S.H up until it was 3 years old. Now I do the services myself and write the information in and staple the receipts / invoices to the same page.

I suggest you phone them back and ask what parts are being replaced for that price

Next, phone two other dealers and see what they quote
Seems rather expensive, but if it is petrol then this probably includes new spark plugs which will push the price above the price on the equivalent diesel

Thing is, once cars reach a certain age it makes much less of a difference. On our cars now probably 5% and to be honest I would rather take a diligent owner with a stack of receipts over a non-main dealer stamp.

How about the £99 service from the main dealer if you want the stamp? I did a deal and they did the lot on my vvt for £99. Do it myself now though.

On my st my dads mate or my gfs bro in law does the servicing, at least i know they are genuine and will do the same as a dealer and cheaper. I always keep all the receipts and get a stamp.
