    Default Best Alternative to HIDs

    Hi,

What is the best alternative to HIDs?

I currently have ultra white H7 bulbs (the rainbow looking ones from ebay) which look ok, but one blew the other day and I replaced it with the same bulb, but that side has a more yellowy look. I have white SMD LED side lights, the same in my numberplate and a board of 48 in the interior light so I want them as white as possible.

Not sure I could afford what the HIDs are (more the wife allowing me to buy them lol) or my ability to fit them.

    So, what do you suggest?

    Thanks

    Carl

Buy the Ultra whites again or a set of HID's from China? I fitted mine in about 30 minutes and they were less then £25. the difference is amazing and I have the updated Veccy.

A lot of people on here will say Osram night breakers. Having seen a vec with them at the weekend i'd say they're pretty good. Nice colour of white too.

I'd suggest that over time you'll be saving with the HIDs I've had mine for 3 years and they've been spot on where as the filament bulbs i was putting in before only seemed to last about 12 months

    Thanks guys.

So if you put in HIDs as your dipped beam, what do you put in as your full beam? Another set of HIDs?

I really like the idea of the HIDs, with the really white light, but how easy are they to fit on the preface lift?

relatively easy to fit mate. I'd recommend filament bulbs in the full beam as the HIDs take quite a while to 'warm up', dont take too kindly to being flashed and the more you turn them on and off the shorter their lifespan. I know i had some in. Only lasted about 6 months.

I can recommend the nightbreakers, had them in mine 10 months with no problems, waiting on HID kit to be delivered from china though at moment.

I have got the osram nightbreaker plus bulbs in my dipped and main beams, they are better than standard filament bulbs IMO.

Another yes for the osram nightbreakers, I've toyed with putting hids in but I only live 1.5miles from work and don't really drive a great deal at night so the osram's are perfect. If and When the osram's eventually fail I will be looking at the hids again but hopefully that won't be for a while yet
