Default cdti stiff gear change, removing gear turret?

Ok so the stiff gear change on the 6 speed cdti box seems to be a pretty common problem. Ive bought the repair kit from ebay >> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2609480933...84.m1439.l2649
and watched the company's how 2 video

I need to remove the gear turret to do the job. With the battery tray out is it a simple case of just locking the turret with a drill bit, pop the two linkages off, reverse switch and then undo the three torx bolts and lift the turret out? Does the turret just lift out of the gearbox and drop back in? Dont have to link it to anything or drop it in a certain way?

Make sure the car is in neutral undo the 3 torx bolts and it just lifts out, getting it back in is a bit more awkward because the base of the turret sits in a spigot. It is critical that the 4 selector forks are perfectly lined up when replacing the turret or you will wreck your gearbox when you start the car and try to select a gear.

Ive got to the point of pulling the turret out of the gearbox, I've locked it off using an Allen key and as I pull it up it moves 1/2 an inch an dose not come any higher, I'm scared to force it and knacker inside of box any more advice on the matter would be brill thanks

Have you done the job yet Rudeboy. I'm having issues with mine and am considering replacing the bush in the turret. A friend tells me that you have to undo the gearbox mount to get the turret out.

Wiggle it a bit as you try to pull it up, doesn't require massive amounts of force, just maneuvering into a position where it can come out if that makes sense.

This is from memory, I did it a few years back.

This sounds mad, but you can use a brake caliper slider bolt instead of the repair kit lol
