    Default Auto gearbox trim

    Unusual one this.
The concertina trim that moves with the gear selector has decided to ruck up under the main trim.
This in turm caused the whole sub-assembly underneath it to move around making it impossible to engage a gear.
As an emergency measure I've had to take off the top trim, disconnect the lead for the winter button and gear selector lights and work it with it all flapping around the gear selector.
Has anyone else ever encountered this problem and if so know of a cure?

Strangely enough they replaced the gearbox a couple of months ago. I wonder if they damaged anything doing it?
I'll have a good look at it tomorrow in the daylight and see what I can see!
Trouble is they're bound to deny anything and try to charge me.
Worst case scenario I'll just rip the trim off and drive it as it is.

Well, it eventually jammed up completely and would not go into park at all.
The cure? Cut the ribbed trim off that moves with the gearlever, job done.
I must admit I've now lost any desire to look after or cherish this car anymore.
Unfortunately I can't get rid of it for another 2 years so I'll just run and service it when required and treat it for what it is - a necessary work tool that ultimately is disposable.
