    Default CDTi Sri woes

This is my first post, so hello everyone

I've recently bought a cdti sri 150 pre-facelift, only I seem to have chosen one that has been collecting common faults off here like they were Nectar points

It has an egr fault, a thermostat fault, a glowplug fault, an occasional turbo overboost fault, the cruise control is random at best and I have no idea when the cambelt was last changed

Money is a bit tight, so obviously the first thing I have bought is a new set of headlights and a shiny grill (they did seem like a bargain though!)

Anyway, now I've got that out of my system, I'm going to send her in to have the cambelt done, which leads me to a couple of questions...

1, Should I get my mechanic to change the water pump when he does the belt change or not?

2, Would it be cheaper to have a new thermostat fitted at the same time as the belt or not?

3, Does the bumper have to come off on a belt change? (might be easier to get him to fit the headlights?)

4, Can I use this stuff to clean the MAF sensor:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AF-Internati...7502131&sr=8-1

5, How do you clean a MAF sensor?

    Thanks for any advice

    1. yes
    2. yes
    3. no
4+5 If i suspected that a maf was at fault i would replace it with a genuine part.

    1. - You'd be incredibly stupid not to, just look at the other 2 posts on the subject today.
    2. - Yes, it's only 3 extras bolts to remove once the belt is off. If you left it til later and it was lucky enough to survive then you'd need to pay the full amount again.
    3. - Bumper doesn't come off for a belt change, but it's not a hard thing to do.
4 + 5. - No idea, someone else will be along shortly to help

    thanks for the quick replys

...so it will be cheaper to have the thermostat done at the sime time though, right?

Would blanking the egr mean I wouldnt have to replace the dead one? (Have had it cleaned already, so Im sure its dead)

I dont know if it has a dirty map sensor, although whatever and wherever it is, I'm guessing its as gunked up as everything else seems to be

Yes, means you will only have to drain/refill the coolant once, less coolant lost, less labour time to bleed system etc etc.

You will have to have the egr mapped out if you dont want an EML on the dash after being blanked, i have a fiat semi blanking plate to avoid the EML
