    Default What are Swirl Flaps?

    OK so I have the car going in on Tuesday to find out why the EML and Spanner lights come on randomly. AT the moment I get the spanner (centre dash) light on every morning after running for a few minutes, leave it and restart after a few more minutes and it's gone for the rest of the day.
    Just read the fault codes and get this -

    Once I have restarted, the P1110 goes to Not Present and the spanner goes out.
    Are the Swirl Flaps anything to do with the EGR?

    If you search all sorts will come up showing the problem with the swirl flaps.

    They are on the inlet manifold under the black cover. They leak, stick or the bar falls off.

    This a Z30DT not a 1.9CDti so is it the same configuration? Nothing to with the EGR then?

    Ah didnt notice the section its posted in.

    Will see what I can find on AutaData

    P1110 also comes up on the 3 litre when vacuum hoses are split as it reads different pressures so check them too.

    OK reason for asking is that I had to call out the AA for a non starter. Turns out the starter motor is on it's way BUT he read the fault codes while he was there and reckons thay point to a failed EGR? I only had this replaced about 3 weeks ago!!

    104K miles but just had a major service and cam belt changed. And the EGR
