Default anyone drove astra 2.0 cdti sri 170??

went to look at one with my sister the other week and to say the least we were both well disapointed it was well slugish and her 115bhp golf we went in would off left it standing just wondered if it was a fault or these really take some winding up i couldnt get the power out of it at any rev range just no torque it seems, she ended up buying a top spec mk5 golf gttdi which i must say is really nice

EDIT: it was a eco flex stop start model

possibly get more of a response on one of the Astra boards but personally not too sure of a 170 Astra 120/150 in Mk5 and 110/130/165 in the J version,,,

I take it your on about the new Astra's as you say 2.0? I had the same engine in an Insignia and shifted pretty well for a heavy car. The engine comes in different variants so maybe you were given a lower power one...

The gearing in the golf and astra would make both feel very different if you were sitting at say 50mph in both and floored it in fifth the golf would be left for dead but at the bottom end of first the golf is so low geared it would nip away rather quick. The 165 is a good little motor based on the 1.9 masses of pull from about 1400 rpm but they are tight as a duck's doodah until they have passed 15>20,000 miles.

Latest Astra diesel 2.0 litre has 165PS (163bhp). I thought with it being an ECO model, it would appear to be a little less sprightly than a non-ECO one, given it is engineered more with fuel economy in mind than the non-ECO ones.
