    Exclamation white smoke 1.9cdti signum

    Well bought it a month or so ago and heard a knocking. It went back as found it to be a dmf / clutch. Got it back and roughly 100miles later i drove maybe 10 miles in winter to drop a friend offf and white diesly smelling smoke bellowed from it. Flew back home and turned it off and had a look but couldnt see anything. Restarted the car and all ok. Been fine ever since. ...

    Then... Today drove 20 miles cruising at 60n 6th, parked for an hour and then nipped 10 miles up in the road for some petrol for the bike and drove back again. That was in no higher than 5th. Had 20 mims or so and set off again. 15 miles in 5th / 6th - white smoke bellowed and stunk. Jumped out with car running and it was at both sides. Lifted the bonnnet and it looked to be closest to the drivers side dash coming up from underneath the car. Jumped back in the car - turned it off and turned it back on. Drove further 5 miles in 4th / 5th and got home. Jacked it up and revved it until it got warm (80 degrees) and sat feathering accelerator. No smokeor smell or nothing.

    WHAT IS IT? HELP ME. I have to do 70mile trip to take it back but cant get it to do it on demand.

    Forgot to say drove 500 ish miles before and never had any smoke.heard it might be dpf? If it is- what are the options?

    as there all short journeys i would say its because cars not up to tempreture

    the white smoke is unburnt fuel... check the injector plugs are ok, if they are you may have a failing injector

    Are you sure it is coming out of the engine bay, or is really just coming out of the tailpipe and wind is causing it to drift under the car and come out elsewhere?

    That it doesn't start smoke until driven some distance, and that you can't make it happen whilst stationary suggests to me that it is unburnt post-injected fuel which suggests dpf regeneration is occurring but not working because of low temperature or faulty cat.
