This will be my first post, also English is not my first language, so please correct me if/when I am wrong.
Recently got P0340 error on Signum 2.2 DTI non starter. Have been looking around for a new pump(VP44 PSG16) and find out they they are quiet expensive (plus labour) and have to be reprogrammed after replacing. So decided to give it a go and try to replace this sensor in the pump myself. There is not much places where sensor can be bought and they are also not cheap. Older pump VP44 PSG5 using same sensor, just a bit different ribbon cable. Sourced one on local scrape yard from Focus TDDI(easiest to remove, pump just in front, inlet in rear).
Scraped off lacquer and cleaned exposed wires, applied some solder on it and pulled them off from plastic (meant to leave them on it, but find it easier to solder later on). Done same from pump side but without peeling wires off plastic. (it it does makes sence)
Matched length of cable, stick two ends together and just solder them one by one.
In the end cleaned a bit around, between wires and excess of flus and solder. Tested connections from sensor up to pump connection, applied some super glue to strengthen new connection, then covered with layer of high temp. fuel resistant silicone. Fitted all back (cleaned inlet at the same time), then system bleed and car purrs happily again.
I know it's not most elegant way to do that, but it worked (don't know for how long though) and saved me lot's of £.
Maybe someone will find this useful.
Anyone have blocked EGR on those? any suggestions of where to blank it off?
