    Default octavia Vrs diesel

    look at the feature in auto express- got to be a good deal

    £18k new ( 6k less than mondeo st )

    Better retained value after 3 yrs (46% vs 31% )

    And it's well specced

    Only thing is gp 16 insurance

    Thing it's one of these for me in 2 years instead of Vec D

    Skoda = VW = Audi.......!

    I love the octavia vrs...insurance and running costs is all that put me off (oh, and price of buying it in first place)

    They are very similar cars, but the savings ocer an Audi price tag has to come from somewhere, I actually looked at a vrs a couple of years ago, and it was very nice, the wife is a badge snob though so wouldn`t entertain it.

    Drive a VRS at work. Very good car. I actually looked at one a few weeks ago. The diesel doesn't get a very good write up though and I don't think is worth the extra cost.

    The new facelift versions look very nice. Badge wouldn't bother me. It's three grand cheaper than a Golf GTI with more kit and the same engine.

    I had 2 earlier Octavias, a Vrs and a 1.8t Estate, and they were pretty impressive for the price (it was my way of trying to keep company car tax down before I gave it up!). I never had a any major problems with either, and drove the estate to the Pyrenees and back.
    The later ones seem to have lost the competitive edge, and are much closer to VW prices. Having said that, if you can get past the badge thing you'll be fine. They're very well made, from high quality parts.
