The last thing i need to do to the car for now is change the coolant as it is looking a little dirty but what coolant should i use? Should i get the red coolant from vaux or halfords coolant which i have used on my other cars for years which have been fine

    Thanks

Vx's 'own' brand coolant will be fine.

Yup, just finish this myself today after a thermostat change... DexCool from VX is what I found 20 quid for 5 litres or so. Actually it might be cheaper.

That's the stuff, it arrived next day.

It's an easy job this, just make sure you car is flat and level before you start, and your cooling system holds about the 5 Litres. (though I've got a bit left over.)
Worth doing a flush whilst you're there too....

Last time I looked, it was only something like £15 or £16 at the dealers.

If your system holds 5 litres (as VVT-i-Matt suggests) then drain out the old, flush the system through with plain water, then pour in 2½ litres of neat coolant, and finally top up with water. That way you'll get as close to a 50/50 mix as you can get (because, no matter how hard you try, there will always be some water remaining in the system after draining/flushing)

Pretty much the same way as the HOW2 I would imagine.

I would have thought all the radiators (regardless of engine size) have the drain tap on the lower offside of the car.
