Default unplugged maf - engine light on

Fitted my hids today. Had the maf unplugged and started engine. Now the small engine light is on (bottom right of dash, no spanner).

Would unplugging maf and putting ignition on cause the light?

And will it go out by itself after so long?

    Cheers

Yeah, I would think so. Maf not reading any air flow with engine running!!!
It should go out after a few good starts. If not get your codes read!
