    Default Sport switch?

Does the sport switch on a cdti increase power? What does it actually do?

Which sport switch is that then?
Do you mean the traction control switch you get on the 3.0 V6?

Guy on V sport has posted a thread about his sports switch on his sri xp estate. He was asking if when he used it would his mpg go down as it has more power. I thought all it did was alter suspension, steering, ESP and maybe auto box.

You meaning on the 3.0? - wasn't aware of it being an option on a 1.9?

On the 3.0 all I'm aware of it doing is what you said, nothing in the engine other than sharpening up the throttle response but no extra power/remap thing.

Must be a 1.9 as xp is not available on 3.0.

Note 7 says: Not available in conjuction with 1.8i 16v or 1.9CTi (120PS) engines

    Oh and the sport switch:

Interactive Driving System-plus (IDS-plus) with Continuous
    Damping Control (CDC)

D5. The Interactive Driving System (IDS-plus) chassis offers the
driver an even more sporting driving experience, thanks mainly to the
electronic control of the suspension. Pressing the Sport switch activates
the CDC function – CDC monitors the roll, pitch and yaw of the car, and
changes the rate of damping on each wheel to optimise the handling,
effectively stiffening the suspension – but selectively. This means the
vehicle will exhibit a reduced rate of roll and pitch, making it more
responsive during direction changes and more settled during the
braking/turn-in/acceleration transition when cornering. CDC is a
    major breakthrough in the segment.

    Sport switch
D5. The functions of the Sport switch aren't limited to suspension
control. When activated, it also affects the steering and accelerator
pedal. The drive by wire throttle is altered electronically, leading to
a sharper engine response and crisper acceleration, while the map
of the power assisted steering is also adjusted, giving the driver a
more positive initial turn-in on corner-entry.

I've got the IDS system (with sport switch) & ESP (with traction control switch) fitted to my 1.9CDTi 150 as optional extras, does make a noticable difference. The accelerator responce is sooo much better & the ride stiffens, average mpg doesn't appear to be noticibly affected tho.

Beauty of the sport switch is when you get it remapped you can have 2 different maps programmed onto it
