Default Wiring - Dash loom/cables behind whole Dash

Long time since ive been on here, been pretty hectic! Anyway, Ive now got a pretty dire problem on my hands!

Over the xmas/new year period, i have possibly had the worst look i could have.

Does any one know how easy it is to replace the Dash Loom? (Pretty much everything)

The reason im asking this is bluntly, some little rodents have decided to have a feast and Get into my car and chew some cables!!!!! Now i have found the cables, But i am so crap at soldering i don't want to attempt a repair. So id be looking to replace the whole thing!

Any one got any tips/Advice? Ive already started taking the dash to bits, but god its a nightmare having to take many bits off to get to another small bit!

    Happy new year btw

    Cheers
    Dane

its not the sort of job I would take lightly , if you are unsure of what you are doing then I would advise getting someone to help you with it .

I agree with ant and dti... Repairing the chewed parts will be a lot less painless than replacing the entire loom, there's plenty of folks on here who I'm sure will do a cracking job.

by trade, im an Electrician. Not an auto electrician, so im sure a lot can be done by myself, though im no "pro" and i for sure dont have a huge knowledge when it comes to car wiring.

I have just had 2 x Quotes/Estimates from local auto electricians i they are both saying i would be looking at 2 - 3 days labour @ 350 - 400 a day + parts! I would be more than happy with removing all the parts to see what damage is done, but there is only a certain amount i am capable of removing personally, and i hate mice! i would **** my self if one ran out at me

I will await some of the wiring wiz's to come along and have a read.

Forgot to mention it is a 2006 Signum Elite, 1.9 cdti.

Hi dane, it sounds like a big job youve got there.

The dashboard as a whole is fitted in one piece in the factory. So it comes out in one piece.
Maybe a visit to a local scrapyard and ask there if anyone has removed one?
On ebay there is a scrapyard called Vectra-C spares who is in Sheffield, his name is Rich and he is friendly to this side.
If it helps I can send you some 18 core 0.5mm multi-core cable, all with different colours as opposed to black cores with numbers on.
I would also suggest using red, blue and yellow butt crimps to join the wires together.

if u get the dash removed you can fit a new wiring loom, easy enough job to do (he says) just to main connector either side of the footwell.. Pity your not nearer otherwise I'd be able to help you. Trouble is without removing the dash access can be tight and some parts of the loom run between the dash and alloy cross-member

Soldering wires together is as easy as it comes. Get some heat shrink tape from maplins to cover the repairs. How many wires do you think are damaged?

As above, it's just a case of bridging the gaps and insulating.

Surely a few of us can get together and help out :-)
