Did you check the slides were moving freely in the rubber slide mounts? Ive had this problem in the past and you need to take the rubber slide mounts out of the caliper and with some rolled up sand paper(or something like a Dremel) clean the corrosion out from where the mounts sit.

Have you checked that the handbrake cables are running free and that the handbrake operating arms and springs on the caliper are moving freely.

On mine, the spring on the Caliper that helps to release the hand brake had corroded to the point of nearly snapping. It was causing the rear brake to drag a little. I don't know if it was heating up because I only noticed the rear disc was all scored with chunks coming out. A pest because there not that old. Disc still does its job but doesn't look pretty compared to the rest. Check the condition of the spring while your there.

Could be - but I would have thought that he would be getting some noise- ie rumbling - if the bearing was badly worn.

pop the hand brake cable off the calliper and check if the cable is free or jammed. Next take the caliper off and opperate the hand brake cable with your hand is easy enough to do. If its overly stiff some wd40 and give it a couple of pumps with your hand. I would also bleed that caliper cause the fulid has probably boiled get some fresh stuff in and see how you go heat will just make it expand too much if its been cooked over could be causeing the piston to come out too much when its hot
