It's that time again, MOT due at the end of the month.

Anyone noticed any good deals from any of the big chains?

Personally Id steer clear of cheap MOT places as it usually means their drumming up work.

and although it shouldn't happen it does. You get advisorys/ failures for things you shouldn't.

Happened to me at Kwik Fit a couple of years ago. They quoted just over £300 to replace 2 outer cv joint boots as they failed it on them. I then spent a tenner replacing the joint RETAINING CLIPS and they passed it.............

Halfords have an offer at £27.42.

Personally I have used the same independent for the last 30 years (I'm getting old) with my various cars over the years . They currently charge £40 but they only do MOT's, so it it fails it will be a genuine fail. I have have very few fails over the years as I always check the car over before it goes in but if they fail it I trust them.

Have you not applied for a Vauxhall Masterfit Service Club card?

½ price MOTs at some dealers, as well as discounts on servicing, etc.

My masterfit card came thru last month and they have e mailed me a £25 discount code to use, so I will be arranging my Vec's MOT in the coming days at my local Vx dealership who have been looking after the family cars for the past few years, although this will be the first time they have had their hands on my Vec - fingers crossed!

try your local councils taxi testing/mot department. Ours charge £35 and its a fair mot and they aint looking to pick things up for the work.

Just signed up to but although they're still advertising the £25 voucher I think it expired on the 31/12. No mention of it in my confirmation email. Should save me a pretty penny anyway, cheers!
