    confused Code 0300 & 0302 on 2.8 Signum elite

I had the engine running for about 30 mins, before I pulled out onto a motorway. The car went mental, it started to judder like mad, the EML light came on and it felt like I was running on square wheels !
I could only get up to 60 and that was tough going as the engine sounded knackered and the car was very jerky. Fuel consumption went down to about 7 - 10 mpg in 4th 3rd and 2nd. 1st gear showed 1mpg for a second or two. Temp gauge which is usually on 90 - 92 held steady on 85 immediateley the EML came on. I nursed it home and plugged in my obd reader which threw up these two codes 0300 & 0302. I erased them and went for a test drive. The car was still a bit juddery but it feels like Ive lost the turbo. If I try to floor it the EML flashes and the car just simply judders, so I wont be doing that again but the fuel consumption figures are back to near normal. After about 2 miles the EML comes back on and the fuel consumption drops again and the juddering is as bad as ever.
Is it worth noting that I always run on 99 RON fuel (V power/Tesco99) but 2 days ago I filled up with Esso 97 RON, would that affect the car ??
Could it be a coil pack ? or a duff plug ? I was thinking of swapping 2 coil packs over and see what happens. Is it worth noting its running a superchips remap which has given me no trouble whatsoever in the two years Ive had the car.
I did have a simlilar thing happen to a Zafira I onced owned, turned out to be the ECU was faulty.
    Any ideas anyone ?

i would go with plugs first because they are cheap followed by a coilpack

do you know any one you could swap and test the coilpack

I was thinking of swapping the coil packs over (if I can, Ive never done it before) and if I still get the code for the same cylinder then it cant be the coil pack thats faulty, I'll then swap a plug over and check again. After that I'm stumped really.

0300 is a misfire or erratic misfires and 0302 indicates the problem is with plug/cylinder no 2 - I would be having a look at no 2 plug first off

switch no 2 coil pack with another one say like 4 and see if the code changes will more than likely be the coil pack altho it could be a plug with it having multiple miss fire but i doubt it

also coil packs for the 2.8 aint cheap £100+ and then + vat at the dealers each there is others on ebay cheaper around 70 quid each also worth checking the part code with a local motor factor see if they can get you one cheaper

the revised coil pack part number for the 2.8 turbo is 12629037

also the plugs aint cheap i think all the 2.8's and 2.8 turbos are fitted with the iridium type gm plug pn 55564748 and retail at £11.55 per plug + vat unless you have trade club then there £6.84 per plug plus vat

also no the fuel wont make a difference unless there is something wrong at the station you filled up at eg they dropped diesel in the petrol tanks underground

with only p0302 cylinder misfire number two i would not think this was a fuel issue as i would expect other cylinders to misfire. if you can get hold of a coil on plug tester this will show if the coil is failing if not i would move the coil from 2 to 1 and vice versa if your misfire code moves with it it is the coil.
