Just bunked off early from a night shift, come home and checked my mail box for the activation link I've been waiting for. It was there at last, so I can now post on the board. Been having a good read in the meantime, though!

I'm actually being a little previous, as I don't actually own a C yet. I've test driven one and put down a deposit on it, but don't get to pick it up 'til next week. If and when it arrives, it'll be a mildly used SRi CDTi 150 hatch in Ultra Blue, which all seem to be popular choices in these parts.

I'm currently driving an Astra turbo coupe (which will be missed greatly), but since becoming a dog owner I need the practicality of a hatch and don't like the Astra one much.


First post, first question: The dealer I went to is advertising 2 cars of this description, the only difference being that one is described as being fitted with a 'sport pack'. What do you suppose they mean by this? This car wasn't available on the day of my test drive, so I've not seen it. It is about 3 or 4 hundred quid more than the one I drove and was wondering whether it would be worth going for. It's also 5 months newer with lower mileage. Should I ring them?

Likewise i think the dealer has named the 'sport pack' himself. I'd ring and check exactly what it is.

Car sales is a funny old business and I don't understand it!

Phoned the dealer and asked about the other car (an '05 05 plate), which in their current ad is £300 more than the '04 54 that I drove. They said that the sticker price on mine was £12999, but they could do it for £11499. The other car was £13299 and they could sell me that one for £13299! They're obviously super keen to be shot of the 54 and wanna keep the 05 and said as much when I asked why the same discount couldn't be applied to the newer one. I assumed I could stump up the extra £300 and get a newer car, but no, I'd have to pay £1800 extra!

I'll stick with the 54!!

On the later madels there is a sport switch, which relates to the IDS feature .

What is this mystery IDS?

Post has just dropped through the door and my local dealer's newsletter was one of the letters. Inside was an older price list and the 2 cars on it are priced at £13996 and £13999. Wish I could get the newer one for £3 extra!

I think I'm starting to get wound up now!!
