upgrade or stock inter cooler, on 197bhp DTH

Advise please.
I need to replace my inter cooler, as mine is bent and leaking.
Are there benefits in fitting an after market one, or stick with the standard set up. The car is a 06 1.9dth with a remap. Thanks

I was always intent that the stock intercooler was more than ample for the needs of a 1.9cdti. However, after speaking to member Harvey Smith, a man GREATLY in the know (R.I.P.) and having everything explained to me it would appear that the stock intercoolers, although capable of working sufficiently in the 280bhp VXR (the intercoolers are the same throughout the range) they are in fact cheap rubbish and in the wrong place. His advice was always go for an FMIC

Thanks Big Willco. Yes the VXR dosnt get as hot. Just wondered if there was any performance benefits, in fitting different?

Supposedly yes. He was telling me that the couple of degrees difference in air temp due to the placement would make a significant difference and also the flow rate of the stock IC's isn't great for the diesels. If you can find one or get one made to suit the engine it's going on then you'll see performance benefits if what he says is gospel.... which i believe it is/ was.

Thanks for convincing me, to upgrade. Has anybody replaced, with a modified one. Ifso can i have a link or dimensions and hoses, if needed.Thanks again.
