    Default Rounded Clutch Bleed Screw

    Hi,

I have just fitted a new master cylinder for my clutch but I can't bleed the clutch because the bleed screw is rounded really badly.

I was wondering if you can replace the pipe that the bleed screw is connected to without having to take the bell housing apart.

Or if anyone has any good suggestions to get the bleed screw out. the screw itself is really bad and cant get a grip on it anymore with mole grips.

Who's idea was it to make these out of plastic???

    Thanks

Looks like its similar to the set up on the Vec b where you can disconnect the the bleed nipple and hydraulic pipe from the top of the housing by removing a flat clip.

Hi thanks for the reply, yes this is what I was looking at. It looks like there's a clip that removes the pipe from a plastic L shaped pipe that goes into the housing and has the bleed nipple on. At the point where it goes into the housing it looks like there's a tab which can be used to lift it out, its all quite flexible. The only thing I wasn't sure about is how its connected inside the housing and whether or not us would need access to the inside of the housing for connections and seals etc

You should be able to change the whole external pipe without any trouble. If you were removing the gearbox you would have to disconnect the hydraulics at that point anyway. There will be a seal in there as well just watch it doesnt get lost.

Ok so are you saying that i can change the hydraulic pipe the part with the bleed nipple without taking the gearbox and everything out. Coz if the gear box needs to coms out then ill have to take it to a mechanic.

You should be able to change the bleed nipple and pipe that connects to the master cylinder without removing the gear box.

Just use a small pair in mole grips to undo nipple.

Ok thanks. The pipe coming from the master cylinder is fine and can be disconnected from the plastic pipe that has the bleed nipple in so i wont be replacing that. I just want to replace the little plastic pipe with the bleed nipple on that goes into the gearbox as i cant get the current bleed nipple unscrewed because its so badly rounded. I will go out and take pic and add it here so u can see just to double check. Thanks again.
